Sony ES gear is my all time fav type of audio equipment. I own both a FA50ES and a FA3ES, both work like a dream and show no signs of problems which is amazing considering they are over 25 years old! Anyone else love this particular type of gear?

I’ve got news for you - the new 7000ES receiver is possibly the best home theater receiver they’ve ever made - it’s certainly the best I’ve ever heard since I got into the industry in 1994.

Not only that, the ES line of projectors is regularly regarded as the gold standard for 4k home projection (along with JVC).

I own a fair amount of older Sony ES stuff (my regular-use pre-pro is a Sony TA-E1000ESD) and while it still sounds great, the new stuff has the same bullet proof build quality and sound quality as the old stuff.

I had a FULL es stack. E3es amp, cd player, tuner, dat, cassette, and minidisk. They all broke down, drive belt breaking, skipping, left channel outage, susceptibility to humidity, insensitive station pickup. They were ALL faulty in a way that the hype could not justify. AND it all sounded harsh and brittle, whenever it ran… Extra Special it was not! I took them all to the tip one by one. Conversely I am still using my previous beginner system of Rega planar2, Nad3020i, marantz CD 63ki, Denon cassette. THEY bring me pleasure for hours every day… Some are approaching 40 years old. Now THAT is build quality and the beauty of simplicity. Still angry about believing the SONY hype .

I love my Sony SSNA2ES speakers! I think the ES Speaker lineup is still in production, even if it’s a little dated

I forget all the model of Sony ES I had over the years, sadly “upgraded” and sold off everything but I was in love with ES line from early 80’s onwards

I have a Sony TA-F707ES integrated in my office, it’s a truly unique amplifier with a ceramic “Gibraltar” base and MOSFET driver and output transistors. I absolutely love it. I’m on the lookout for a matching ES CD player but they seem hard to come by.

It’s cool to see what a huge company like Sony can come up with when they dedicate the resources to make true hifi gear.

I still have my X33ES CD player, but the worm gears are toast. Great player though. I hated to replace it.

    sign me up!

huge vintage sony fan (you can see some of my stuff in previous posts).

    Currently running:

    CDP R1 (transport)

    DAS R1 (DAC)

    AR SS1 (Speakers)

    PS X75 (turntable)

also have their last last high end 2-channel effort from 2005-ish, the TA DR1a and SCD DR1

the tactile enjoyment of using the CDP/DAS R1 is off the charts…

Jealous… I have been on the hunt for one. My Sony setup isn’t as vintage as most but I have an STR-DA5300ES receiver, DVP-NS9100ES for cd/sacd, and 2 BDP-S5000ES blu-ray players

It is now 33 years since I bought the following Sony ES set:
    Integrated Stereo Amplifier TA-530ES
    CD Player CDP-228ESD
    Cassette Deck TC-K630ES
FM/AM/ Tuner Radial Power Supply ST-S530ES
In actual USD, their total cost was 3,500. The set aesthetics is beautiful. The reader of the CD player sometimes fails to read CDs, making a cyclical noise after it stops.

You would need to ajust the laser power on that CD drive. Also, if the noise seems like a thing rubbing on another, you may want to open it and realign the CD clamp.
