In all seriousness, though, I am searching for an upgrade from my DT 990s (290 grams) and have heard fantastic things about the LCD-2 classic line. However, I have also heard horror stories and discourse amongst the forums from people who are not big fans of the weight.

What are some of your experiences with Audeze headphones, specifically regarding the weight? Does the adjustability and comfort make it less significant an issue than some people describe?

I also encourage those with 500+ gram headphones to say their thoughts.

I don’t notice the weight as much as the size. It is quite the apparatus places on your head.

The weight is probably going to be experienced differently by a person who is 150 lb and a person who is 225 lb as well.

I’ve had the LCD-2 since the LCD-3 was their flagship. It’s not the weight that gets you. It’s the clamping force. I love the sound, but I don’t find them so comfortable for long listening sessions.

Weight didn’t bother me, more annoyed with the fazors touching my ears on the LCD-3s. Ended up getting dekoni pads which are a bit bigger

I’m a power lifter. I get that these are heavy, but people are blowing it out of the water. I can sit for hours and not be bothered by the weight.

There have been days when I wore them for 10+ hours (work from home, and listening to the same pair after that for leisure) and never had an issue. I only have mild discomfort when my body is generally sore from some other type of physical exertion or when I am sick.

And also, you probably know this already, but the LCD-2C is more or less the polar opposite of the DT 990 in terms of sound signature. If you haven’t had a lot of experience with different cans in the past, it may take quite a bit of time for your brain to adjust (I had a similar experience going from DT 770 to LCD-2C).

Don’t feel the weight at all. Regarding clamping force: Sundaras are much worse than LCD-2, at least imo

LCD-X is fine for my admittedly large head/neck. On the head initially I find them plenty comfortable with a larger strap and thicc boi Dekoni pads. I start feeling it hard on the top of my head at about the 4 hour mark. Without the mods I can push only about 1-2 hours.

I think you’ll do fine – just tried my pair on with some anti-glare glasses and although the pads do press against the sides it’s not noticeably uncomfortable. My head shape is almost perfect for Audeze headphones, though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The LCD-2C with case. I got to demo it awhile back, they are indeed thicc cans but I have an eye dr appointment today to go get some thinner framed glasses bahaha.

literally none. Just sit with good posture. If your neck hurts, it serves as a reminder to sit up more straight.

Heavy headphones punish poor posture, which in turn helps you in the long by correcting it.

For me, none. I have a pretty big head and my LCD-3s fit snugly with little to no clamping force.

Always attempt to try on a new pair of headphones if possible, though; for example, despite much praise regarding their comfort I personally have found the 6x0 line to be the most clampy headphones I have ever tried, enough so to give me a headache for the rest of the day after a 5-minute session.
