I feel like there’s a story behind this post that we’re not getting.

I’m curious of the difference between the dx3 pro and a30 pro… most of Topping’s lineup are so close in performance the listings show differences of something like 0.0001% vs 0.00008% THD. I mean, I love my dx5 in DAC mode, but it wasn’t a huge difference moving to that from the dx7 pro.

So, I’m inclined to think you’re hearing the difference between Spotify’s lossy 320kbps and Qobuz’s lossless up to 24/192 tracks. Might be interesting to do some testing while/if your Spotify account is still active.

Spend a lot of time with them to help the novelty of the new experience wear off.

I’d suggest finding a comfortable position where you can rest & close your eyes… a lounge chair or just lay on your bed. Helps to have something to block out light too like a washcloth or folded up shirt. Then just relax and experience the music. Keep a volume knob within reach in case a track comes across as too loud or soft. But, the key is just relax. Don’t try to pick apart the track or single out an instrument… just relax.

It sounds ridiculous, but this is genuinely a skill that we’ve started to lose to our phones. So, trying it may be frustrating at first.

Looking at Meze Lirics, but soooo on the fence about them.

It’s essentially less compressed than youtube’s normal 1080p compression. Basically, the compression algorithm breaks up the scene into smaller blocks making it less noticeable. Kind of an easy, “if you have it, use it” option because why not.

I’m pretty sure it only affects visual quality, not the audio tracks of a video though.
