I’m running through some new music, some tried and true favorites, and some sonically trusted masters but no matter what I listen to it sounds like a hot mess of jumbled thick midrange. I’ve changed nothing. Typically I’m thrilled by my setup. What the hell is going on?
It happens. If I’m tired, or had a stressful day, music always sounds horrible. I’m sure the system is fine!
Maybe air pressure changes have resulted in your inner ear pressures not being balanced. I have rubbish ears and can’t hear well until I blow air into my ears.
Gotta turn your brain off to do the good listening, hence the suggestions for bourbon 🤷🏼
I’ve found if I’m tired or stressed out about something music doesn’t sound as appealing to me
Yo, when’s the last time you got a proper ear cleaning? I never have. I noticed when I pop my ears, I can hear way more frequencies, but it eventually closes up and sounds like this. I need that ear wax sucked out
I’ve had this phenomenon too. I think it’s mood for me. That or something external is going on lol.
Brain chemicals probably. Some days things sound a bit bright. Some days dull.
Bourbon will fix the issue
The best tube buffer is a few ozs of bourbon
Needs new and more expensive cables.
You’re out of chips.
Just add marijuana. Problem fixed.
Sounds better, but now I’m paranoid.
Hahahah! Add whisky. Problem solved.
Something tells me that you were the wild card in the experience. There are times when I am not able to enjoy my system even though it is a great set up.
Pop your ears
Sometimes you’re not in the mood and it really changes how you enjoy the music. Could be you heard some loud noises earlier, and your ears gone temporarily deaf. Or your taste in audio has changed, which is normal.
Whenever I find myself thinking along the same lines I realize a couple things.
- Your ears need a break. I’m the kind of person who listens to music constantly throughout the day, but if I want to sit down and listen critically, I need some time to just unwind in silence first. Otherwise I find I lose the details and despite being my focus, it just sounds like the background music I’ve listened to all throughout the day.
- For subjective listening, there’s absolutely no beating a double of your preferred bourbon or rum.
It’s a power grid thing. I thought I was crazy for so many years but after years of note taking and experience, I’ve come to the conclusion that our hydro grid does have a significant effect on system performance.
This sort of problem stopped happening to me after I got s power regenerator.
