Isn’t this the old version of Magni 3 where it has bad circuitry problem?

I think they released the Magni+ recently that fixed that problem… I think, I haven’t seen anyone have any feed back on that. Not to defend Schiit though.

You must be doing something wrong because I’ve had my Magni/Modi stack for over a year and I’ve had zero issues. And I use it every single day, too. You probably dropped Cheetos dust in the vents and caused it to overheat.

And this is why I have a DIY laptop fan cooler cooling the bottom of my Asgard 3 and a fan on top.

Glad I haven’t had any issues with my Modi/Vali 2 stack, I’ve pretty much left it on 24/7 for the last 2 years and have only now had my first tube start to fail on me. Definitely gonna start turning it off at the end of the day now that I’ve seen this though, always thought the tube amps would be the most likely to start a fire and this doesn’t give me any more confidence.

I’m ready for the downvotes… but I think Schiit is over rated. I wasn’t impressed with the headphone stack I bought from them a few years ago.

You pay a premium for being a Made in USA company, you’ll never get the most bang for the buck, but their current gear isn’t bad.

FiiO K5 ESS or the FiiO K7 can be had for cheaper and are as good for an integrated DAC/AMP

          Topping/SMSL do better for cheaper.

The only corners ChiFi haven’t cornered are high powered speaker amps (Hypex/Purifi for those) and over-ear headphones.

Totally agree. Their products are overrated and overmarketed buy paid reviewers. I have heard many better Chinese maid stuff than the Schitt.

Oh yeah you’ll get agreement from me. I mean, just look at the circuit there. It’s a glorified op amp based amplifier with a transistor output stage, and not with any special components or anything. It’s run of the mill at best.

Yeah then they package it in a nice looking aluminum chassis. Like buying a sports car with a 4 cylinder engine inside.

Many reports of Schiit burning or blowing out headphones.

Same with Burson on blowing out cans.

I had mine catch on fire too. I had a Modi Magni stack and after the amp caught fire, I tossed the DAC also.

From my limited digging, it looks like there somehow is a ground fault between the ground and the positive rail from the USB. I’m just glad it didn’t hurt my computer.

It’s not about if the company has an issue like this with a product it’s how they deal with it if it does happen.

I’ve been on both sides of this equation.
