Acrylic platter is definitely an upgrade for the thinner aluminium platters. More inert, more neutral sounding and less ringing and static. Not using a mat is a bonus too.

Just out of curiosity. Why do you say not using a mat is an upgrade? I’m using a thin leather mat.

Virtually no static and dirty discs, especially if one is using an acrylic platter. Look into the Funk Firm Acromat if you’re thinking of an alternative.

Everything has a sound and the Acryl-It adds a slight glow to the presentation. I found the heavier metal platter was better for dynamics but I agree with others that the Acryl-It is quieter.

I eventually went back to the original platter and added a centre weight which provides a higher and more neutral presentation.

I find I do rotate platters when I feel the need for a change.

Stay with aluminium. The entire acrylic thingy is for the looks but static charges are a bitch with those cool lookig platters.

Also chiming in with another confirmation that acrylic platter was an absolute game-changer for static.

Had the Acryl-it in mine for years after using the original steel platter with a mat. Definitely noticed an improvement from the lack of static and a small drop in surface noise on average. Not sure about a heavier platter but either is worthwhile if you plan to stay with the deck for a long time.

I have a Debut Pro and I would never switch the stock platter for the acrylic one.

The stock platter is very nice, I doubt you could hear any improvement moving to an acrylic one. It has a TPE insert along the perimeter for damping.

You would be better off using that money to upgrade the stylus.
