I noticed a lot of people here remove the “tent” (I don’t know how to call it, sorry for my bad England(: ) from their speakers when they have it and a lot of the speakers made today don’t have it from the start; do you prefer to keep it on (and maybe even search for speakers that have it) or to take it off (and in general speakers that don’t have it)?
My speakers dont come with grills nor can you get any.
Had the grilles on Focal Chorus 807V’s on stands for three days. Then both speakers fell during an earthquake and one grille broke in several places.
That was 13 years ago. Grilles have since been kept in closets.
I have a JBL 550P hooked up to a partybox 1000. I wanted the cover off at first but tbh was worried I’d break it so I didn’t. I still intend to take it off some day lol. Also would like to turn the PB on its side so I can see that sexy 12 inch woofer go WOOF. While it being downward facing is probably functionally nice for some reason (I assume?), visually it’s a shame lol
Off. However, I live alone. If I didn’t, I’d leave them on.
Where’s the option for “My speakers don’t come with covers” ?
This was more of a “do you generally prefer speakers with covers or not?”. If you like them like they are choose the second option, if you’d prefer to have a cover choose the first one
Some grilles have a thick frame which effectively recesses the drivers and can cause edge refraction that can adversely affect the tonal balance and dispersion. The grille material itself may attenuate treble to some extent. In some cases, that could actually be desirable.
Try listening with and without grilles, and decide your preference.
of course not, no covers, otherwise what is the point of speakers?
covers should be not allowed in pictures on reddit. or vertical phone formant by the way.
