Fidelio X1 for everything especially gaming rock and EDM. Sometimes I pull out the 58x or 560S to mix things up, usually over it after a few hours though.

Sometimes I wanna buy something nice, because I got a bunch of extra disposable income and a chunk of that already added to my savings. So I wanna treat myself for once, but then I don’t know what to buy except headphones lol.

Yes, I owned a Little Dot IV at some point, rolled a serious bunch of tubes on it before I finally admitted to myself that it wasn’t doing anything for me. At no point did I hear anything that I could point to and say ah, look there’s the tube sound. But then people say oh you need this or that tube amp to REALLY get the tube sound. Which is audiophile speak for You didn’t spend enough. Yeah. Thanks I’ll pass. I also wasn’t very happy with having the hot tubes running, the fact tubes wear, and all in all micromanaging the tube amp to fit with dedicated listening sessions rather than just having it run 24/7 next to my pc. Went back to a proper solid state, never looked back. That’s over ten years ago.

Most difference in tonal balance would be caused by difference in output impedance. Ideally your amp has low enough output impedance that it wouldn’t affect the damping on your headphones, but not all amps are built the same. Other than that, all good amps should sound the same.

Mmm yeah I’m still not really sold on them. Their bass is definitely not bad by any means, it’s nice and clear. On the other hand I really like the bass on the 58x, even though it’s not as linear. The lack of midbass punch on the 560 is sometimes nice, other times it leaves me unfulfilled a bit. I think I probably prefer the 58x in terms of tonal balance, but I do really like the bigger soundstage on the 560s. The 560s also has a sort of unreal smooth clarity in the mids and treble that the 58x doesn’t quite match.

To be honest I’m not even interested in trying the HD800 because from how I understand their sound signature, there’s no way that’s for me. Maybe fun as a novelty, and I’m sure it’s well made. But that’s about it.

IMO they’re amp picky mostly in that they have highly variable impedance together with a fairly low nominal impedance, so any amp with higher than 5 ohm output impedance can cause bass bloat which is really bad on the HD598 'cause their bass is very prone to boominess as it is.

Nice sounding at lower volumes, yeah they’re definitely nice no argument from me there, but imo outclassed these days by other options such as the 560S or 58x.

I’m not really sold on the 560s (yet) but I think the 58x are really great yeah!

It depends, for me giving up the soundstage from the 598 was a bit disappointing since I paid 350 euros for the HD650 at the time, I didn’t expect that downgrade. On the other hand the resolution and definition in the sound is a definite step up. The HD650/HD6XX just sounds really tight, like you just came from the hairdresser lol. I’d say you’ll probably enjoy them. Yeah you might need an amp, they’re just demanding enough that your phone or computer might lack some volume with them. Depends a lot on how loud you listen as well.

Well, let me put it this way I follow this sub daily for years and I have yet to see someone have build quality issues with their HD6xx. People talk hypothetically that the build is plastic and so must be weak, but reality tells a different story. I’m far from a Sennheiser fanboy but undeniably the 6x0 series are maybe the best built hifi headphones out there just judging by the amount of issues people report with them, especially taking into account how widely used they are.

That’s terrible. First the colors of that add, orange with purple like wut. But then the way the text clips through the image of the black headphone. That’s bad. Why is the O so ridiculously huge. And what does “more than just a present” even mean, you could say that about literally every single thing in the world.

You can get a HD650 or HD600 cable? I got the HD600 cable since I like it better.
