Is this a good choice for acoustic treatment? Thinking about making frames from 1x4 which should provide 1"+ air space between wall and rockwool. Planning stages.

I didn’t want itchy… I compromised on size and went 3” thick insulation with 1”x2” oak frame. 1” stand off from wall with rubber feet. 48x24 over all panels with Acoustimac cotton fiber insulation. Helped a lot in my room.

i rather pick a wood fiber insulation, i used this: https://huntonfiber.co.uk/products/wall/hunton-nativo-wood-fiber-insulation-boards/
and the airgap behind should be equal to the thickness. 2" gap with 2" insulation perform the same as 1" gap with 3" insulation.
unless you want thick as possible for future flexibility.
