I’ve bought my first pair of floorstanding speakers and wondered where would be optimum placement?
Red, green, blue or yellow?
Red
What kind of speakers? I would go yellow for convenience and red if you use to keep the music on while eating or doing other things around, but still curious about your gear
They’re Sonus Faber Sonetto Vs
None of those are very good spots
Assuming you’re talking about ideal from a sound quality perspective, you also need to specify a listening position.
Only the red locations have an implied stereo triangle with the pictured furniture. (north blue couch).
They are also similarly in the corners of the room - symmetry of placement is good for imaging.
Floorstanding speakers tend to play lower octaves, and any bass producing speaker in a corner will reinforce the low end by ~ +9db, due to the 3 boundaries the speaker is near. This will practically sound like extra bass, and it may mask other midrange detail as a result.
If your objective is causal listening in the entire space (for instance you enjoy listening while eating at the dining table), I would suggest the red location.
Overall, your listening space is full of compromises, and you’ll have to decide what you value more - sound quality, shared uses, aesthetics, etc.
You have to let the speakers decide where to be placed
The dining space will also influence the echo by shape, household items and wall material. The effect is unpredictable, unless OP equips perfect sound absorbers all over the place.
Is there a tv? If you watch place equal distances away and line up the opposing couch. Triangle my friend
There isn’t. We call this out adulting lounge
I’d go green, or yellow
Wherever you decide, make sure there’s two feet or more between the speakers and the wall.
Red, basically same as mine.
Works well.
Red easily.
