I was keeping an eye on the PBN-DN308 Denon turntable with Kuzma arms, and that build alone cost $75,000 between the table, tonearms and cartridges. It sold for $10,750. His ridiculous custom 1500lb turntable ended up selling for $19,750, which is around what one of the Kuzma tangential air bearing tonearms sells for, and it has two of them.
Good luck to whoever has to haul all of that stuff away.

Damn, some of those krells went so cheap. Weird time in the world for mid-high end audio. Truly high end folks would never buy a used Krell, but those of us with ok budgets would have loved to be local. $20k plus retail going for under $3k is not normal. Hope the new owners enjoy them!
Managed to buy a krell preamp today. It’ll be played in Ken’s honor. Seemed like a cool guy.
I hate to state the economically obvious, but … A ridiculous $20,000 turntable is only a good deal as it can be easily sold for much more :) Just because Ken Fritz paid a million dollars for his system doesn’t mean it is actually worth that much. :)

The Aesthetix Rhea was a very good deal as well.
I was watching this and the stuff was given away. Even the oppo 205 went for like $1k less than what they are going for on fleabay. There were a couple of $20k tube amps that went for like $2500 Would have been worth flying out there and picking them up.

Did they talk about why they were going against what he’d previously wished and breaking up the system?
Probably not a mystery; financial realities.
He finished the system in 2018 and was gone within 4 years.

Well yes, but to be fair, he had 30 years of building time on it, and that was no doubt extremely satisfying. Also, by the time he got that done, his aging ears were probably the weakest link - growing old sucks.
No argument there.
RIP to the system Fritz built (and I hope Fritz isn’t turning over in his grave now what it’s gotten dissected.)
