I tried using the apple music preview on the microsoft store but when i checked the file type of the song it said 256kbps 44.1khz, when I know that on my phone its 24 bit 96khz

Obvious you are listening to AAC so lossy.
If you use a browser to listen to Apple Music, this is the best you can get.

Isn’t it already shown it is a lossy format (aac)? Maybe because it’s a preview of apple music lossy audio instead of the apple lossless audio codes?

It works. I do it. You have to change the DAC settings to allow up to its max potential. Windows default is 44.1.
Probably lucky to have even gotten that far. I haven’t been able to use Apple Music Preview at all, lol.
As far as I understand there doesn’t seem to be an easy native way to. There used to be an electron app that got close, but that got converted into Cider, and Cider doesn’t seem to allow high res music at the moment with the devs just saying they’re working on it.

Why? If it’s just for the few, minor visual changes, there’s apps you can install to change them back (or even just registry hacks).
I’m using both Windows 11 and Apple Music preview, and I have zero issues with either. The original version of AM was incredibly buggy, but it’s become a lot better recently.
Just use another service. Too much red tape dealing with Apple on anything. 256kbps is a damn MP3. Not lossless. That file should be 10mb per minute roughly. Or they use similar tech like Tidal MQA to fold the file into smaller files. Probably don’t want it used with Windows so no one can figure out its a scam like MQA.
i get apple music with my mobile contract so i’d rather not spend unnecessarily on another streaming service
Plus it’s great on phones. Much better than Spotify.
tbh it really doesnt matter, just stick with lossless or even lossy depending if you can even tell the difference (probably not)
I was able to hear a difference when listening on big speakers but minimal to zero difference when listening via headphones. Both methods with no audiophile-grade equipment just my old stuff. But the difference when listening to music on big speakers is very nice. Did I need it? Probably not. But do I enjoy the audible 15-10% quality boost? sure. Not all music that I listen to has an audible difference though.
The way i would describe, ONLY WHEN COMPARING BOTH, is as if the lossy track had a slight filter that blocks small bits of clarity and sound volume? The lossy track sounds great nonetheless but you play a lossless track that does have a noticeable difference its a cool moment and you dont wanna go back.

apple viewer something, i forgot the app name, its in the windows store, you can max everything there, spatial audio and the quality, as far as i know there isn’t dolby something there
You have to wait until it supports exclusive mode, which probably won’t ever happen. Until then, you will have to manually change the bit rate/depth to match the song/album you’re playing, which is stupid af
Easy, ditch Apple if you have Windows and sign up for Qobuz.

yeah I be buying Hires files from there or use bandcamp to transfer the FLAC files to Foobar2000 for windows.
I’m faithful my iPhone doesn’t have trouble reproducing Lossless.
You have to activate lossless in the Settings in Playback or something like that.
If that doesn’t work try reinstalling the app and erasing the iTunes or Apple Music in folder in Documents and the Apple and Apple computer folder in C:\ProgramData
