They don’t need it as they are more capable of producing a decent bass on their own but I found that adding a sub adds a whole extra layer to the music that just isn’t there when you got speakers that start to roll off around 70-80 Hz and are not capable of producing anything lower than 38 Hz (-6dB that is)
I was hesitant at first because I was afraid they might lack power and I should have went for the 150 but I must say, the 75 is plenty for my room and the speakers I currently have.
When approaching 80% things get LOUD and they seem to handle those levels fine, no distortion in the signal as far as I can tell. Never felt the need to go higher.
As for the sound, to me the EVO appears very detailed with a more than decent soundstage and perhaps a slightly warm character but not overly so. A very balanced amp that handles all genres you throw at it. Very happy with it so far! Also, I love the display, I don’t think I can go back to one without or a classic monochrome one. There’s something nice about seeing the album covers when streaming
