  • Idk about headphones but IEMs have gotten exponentially more advanced the past decade.

Even these last few years have been night and day differences like the Campfire Audio Andromeda from 2016 to the 2018 ThieAudio Monarch lineup and now the crazy Elysian Annihilator, Fir Audio XE6, Empire Ears Raven, FatFreq Grand Maestro, to name a few. I can’t keep up!

They gotta chill with the prices though as flagships are costing as much as $8000. I’ll wait it out till I can get the Annihilator in a few years for $1000 lol

Long enough to last you till the next best Bluetooth pair you will upgrade to LOL! He said any recommendations so I thought I’d list what’s considered the best by many here.

Speaking of best, I’m eyeing at that new Noble Audio Fokus Prestige TWS ($600!!!), I can’t say for certain that thing will last at least as long as a pair of AirPods given my Falcon Pros needed to be replaced every year so I turned it down as it had one year only of warranty. No IP water protection or anything, basically a pair of resolving IEMs with batteries.

They are freakishly expensive. Let us know your impressions on the bass as their lineup are using an open vented dynamic driver. I wanna upgrade to either the Xenon 6 or FatFreq Grand Maestro but I’m spoiled by the IER-Z1R’s bass so those two need to have as good of a bass response for that price to justify it.

Supposedly it’s bass you can feel so I hope it isn’t like the Skullcandy Crushers that only vibrates. Please let us know!

  • I can only ever enjoy music to the fullest by having it really loud. Can’t hear the micro details as well without that. Now at 25 yrs old, my hearing became so sensitive that I can’t use IEMs that are brighter than neutral and it needs gobs of bass as I cannot hear the lower frequencies as well anymore. It really affected my mental health as I cannot enjoy many new stuff as they can hurt my ears. I really fucked up my hearing so young.

In my opinion, EQ affects the resolution/sound quality enough that I refuse to use it on IEMs that are analytical. I will try to go for the IEMs that are warmer than neutral but not too rolled off like the Empire Ears Odin. My IER-Z1R is my upper limit for treble as it’s bright but the timbre is very smooth that it doesn’t bother me.
