Topping e50 single end -> Fosi tube amp -> Magnius / Topping e50 balanced -> Magnius. Edifier MR4 and headphones run off the balanced outputs on the Magnius. One button switches between SE and balanced input and the Fosi has bass and treble controls.

The mod on the XS is so real. I love them but without some extra padding I can’t wear them for more than 20 min. Are the Graddos modded too?

Unfortunately, yes you do need at least a moderately powerful amp. Fortunately, once you get something stronger, you will be able to enjoy the lovely qualities of both headphones. I own the XS and can report that it has a fast, detailed bass and lacks almost all harshness (to my ears).

Fortunately you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a decent amp. First, try your headphones on an amp (friend or at an electronics store). If you don’t have access to either, buy an amp online from a store that allows refunds. If you don’t hear a difference after a few days of listening, return it. When you’re ready to buy something you really want, see if there is a local shop that sells used equipment, check eBay, or buy new.

Great question! I mostly listen to music throughout the work day. Working from home office is great for that. I have my laptop or iPhone running Apple Music into my desktop DAC/Amp and can quickly swap headphones when I feel like it. I usually listen to 10-16 new albums (to my ears) a week. I’ll play music over loudspeakers while socializing, cooking, or cleaning. In the evening I may turn the lights down, recline and listen to live albums. I do this less frequently since I have other interests besides music. The reason for the latter is that I enjoy feeling transported to another place and another time when listening to live performances. My Edition XS are perfect for that.
