I wanted to share my excitement for beginning this journey into the audiophile world. Just bought the HifiMan Sundaras but I have a couple of questions:

  1. Since I would prefer a portable Dac/amp to listen on my MBP and Pixel 7 Pro around the house, is it ok to opt for the Dragonfly Red? Or the Quadelix 5K is better?

  2. Just to know, how better is the zen DAC v2 compared with the ones above?

I can say as a Sundara owner that Ifi devices play nice with hifiman headphones. The Sundaras can definitely be light on the bass which is where the magic bass button comes in on the Zen Dac. I recommend.

As someone who has owned the Sundara and still owns the ifi dac and also a Qudelix (and also a fiio K7), I can confirm they all sound great and you will be very happy, especially with the utility of a Qudelix. The bass button is extremely useful on the ifi, but obviously it’s not portable. All in all, it’s a good choice either way you choose!

I have the Sundara, the Q5 and a Google pixel 7. Killer combo because you can turn LDAC on with Google.

    Enjoy!

its worse. i’ve owned a zen dac v2 and for some reason, my hifiman ananda clipped on hard bass notes with the zen dac v2, but not with any other dac/amp at the same or even louder volume, and yes, the bass boost feature on the zen dac v2 was turned OFF
