Receiver worth upgrading?

Hi there everyone. I’m currently trying to decide if I want to upgrade my receiver. My current setup is a 5.1.2. Sony STRDH790, Front L/R KEF Q950, KEF 301C for center, Sony SSCS5 for sides, Sony SSCSE for Atmos and Klipsch R-112SW Reference for sub.

I’m currently happy with my setup. The only reason I’m looking is because I have Best Buy credits I need to spend before the end of the week before they expire.

My room is a rough room for HT. Open back, vaulted ceiling with a fireplace in the middle of it.

Currently looking at Denon S970H ($491), onkyo TX-NR6100 ($484), TX-NR7100 ($804). I know that’s a wide price range. It seems that a lot of people thing paying extra for a better room correction is worth it while a lot says it’s not noticeable so I’m not sure which way to lean. HDMI 2.1 and HDR 10+ is a must. Thanks for the advice in advance

I can’t speak to features, but Yamaha still makes nice receivers at that price point. So I’d consider Yamaha, but i am not recommending for or against. I listened at Best Buy a couple of years ago. Across the 4 brands (Pioneer was at this store also) each sounded comparable at each price point but each brand had its unique sound.

The stereo purchasing thread will direct you to the home theater subreddit. Which seems to recommend Denon 9/10 times.
