Wishing everybody a joyful Sunday with beautiful tunes. I have a morning routine which is kind of funny: I live alone with my German Shepherd (wooofer, lol) and he wakes me up every day at 6:00 and then we go to the living room and chill. I have my morning coffee and he cuddled up beside me. He does that precisely at 6:00 +/- 10 minutes. I can’t even be mad at him.

Playing this amazing Cranberries album, a random discovery on Roon (Qobuz stream)

Again, happy Sunday, my friends

Oh and yes, I know that these Tekton speakers are very controversial but I absolutely love them.

Oh my. Would love to spend some time with these beasts. The thing about sound waves is that they tend to step all over each other. They use to put pulsing LED lights on things like this in the 80’s.

Wow these speakers look amazing! What‘s up with the tweeters, that some kind of line array?

How was the company like to deal with and how long did it take to get them once ordered? I’m looking at the Enzo XLs as a potential upgrade to my Lintons. They are not nearly as stylish but the frequency response on stereophile looked rather good with a lot of deep bass.

    Controversial Tektons for sure!

I have an update for you, as you requested in one of your previous posts -

I have had my upgraded Double Impacts for almost a year now. My current setup has a dual approach to playback - analog playback starts on an SL1500C connected to a Vincent POH-701 phono connected to a Lyngdorf Tdai 1120 then to the speakers. And music streaming happens directly from the Tdai 1120 to the speakers.

The speakers have been stellar. I have not heard speakers that could give me a wall-of-sound effect quite like these do, which was what I was after. Before these Tektons, I had a pair of Kef LS50 Wireless 2 powered speakers and a Klipsch sub, and before that I had a pair of Klipsch Sixes instead of the Kef pair. Since then, the bookshelf pairs have been moved to other duties in the house, along with the sub.

I have my setup in a bedroom I turned into an office, and the space (according to some reddit comments) is not ideal. But after hearing bookshelf speakers and switching them with the towers, there is no contest. Stage depth and height is immense, and the resolution truly is pin-point.

There is one caveat - you HAVE to match these speakers carefully. Where I think I helped my setup the most was by matching the Lyngdorf to the speakers. The speakers did about 90% of the job, but room correction software (RoomPerfect) included in the amp got me to 100%. I cannot stress how much of a difference it made after tuning. I would highly recommend anyone in this sub or with an inkling of interest into stereo playback consider a room correction solution. There are several out there, but in my opinion, Dirac and RoomPerfect are the best.

Conclusion - are there better speakers out there for my arrangement? Perhaps. Would I change anything in my current setup which I think would make a huge difference? No. I am currently looking into phonostages to upgrade my Vincent. But for all else, I think this is about as good as my sound will be until I have a drastic change of listening space induced by migrating to another residence… Which is unlikely.

    Happy listening

    Teknion is controversial?
Thats news to me. I spoke to the owner of the company when I bought my Electron SE’s two years ago. Everything about the transaction was excellent and I could not be happier about the results.

Nice looking setup. What streamer device?

More proof, as if its needed that all truly cool people have dogs. My Aussie-Dude’s routine is to stretch out and nap behind my speakers along the back wall. My German Shepherd however, doesn’t like most of my music and prefers to park himself on the other side of my studio’s door.

So what kind of noticeable difference is created by the tweeter sized drivers acting together as the midrange vs 1 or 2 dedicated traditional 3”-6.5” midrange drivers? I’ve never heard this kind of thing in person.

I have the m-lores, powered by a low watt tube amp and love the sound. Draws me into the music wonderfully.

What’s controversial about them? Everyone seems to love the way they sound. I’m thinking about snagging some from a friend for $1750.

A few things (I don’t necessarily agree with all but some). The size, the dubious claims of the speaker array, the cantankerous and dickish owner, the “love it or hate it” sound.

People love the way rap sounds on their iPhone speaker in public. Just because they buy a big speaker that looks weird doesn’t make their taste good.
