Hello all. I really want to rip my CD collection for playback while running, or to listen to via a raspberry pi type server on the hifi. I do not get on with streaming, having tried everything up to premium tidal. I am open to suggestions for what to use.

I would also like to know where to post for advice on a player that can be used out and about? I used the following in the past with my hifi and for on the go: ipod/nano classic, creative labs Zen, sony mini disc, sony CD, sony professional tape (still have this).

So which software is best and which file format? I used to rip to Wav a decade ago. I have a mac mini m2, or a windows laptop and a portable usb drive. I also have an old 250gb ipod classic.

Thank you for any advice and my apologies if this is not the correct sub for the question posed.

EAC, with checksums, logs, cue files. You may not need it, but if you ever share it, those are the things that trackers look for.
