Hi r/audiophile, I’ve been lurking and learning here for a while! And so many of you have been helpful and generous sharing your insights (big shout out to u/Secret-Condition-844 for your advice a few weeks ago!).

This room is temporary, but I might check back for placement advice in the future.

The setup is simple and effective:

  • Marantz PM7000N integrated amp
  • Audio Technica x Drop Carbon VTA Turntable
  • Wharfedale Linton speakers

I want to share two little stories about getting to this point — please share any similar stories you may have!

1–The satisfaction of “completing” a setup

I had been acquiring the components and vinyls since 2021, waiting and saving up for the right speakers. In the meantime I had been using the Bose Acoustimass 5’s I bought second hand when I was 13 (laugh all you want but they really inspired me back in the day and still work perfectly 23 years later!).

When I tell you these speakers tied the whole thing together, I just can’t tell you the feeling of satisfaction and affection I felt for me whole setup! I’m so happy with it.

We recently moved to this new place and the first month were told we had to move out in 90 days. I was crushed by that because nothing was going to feel resolved in this now-temporary house. Wrapping up this setup refilled my spirits completely. We’re moving again later this month, I might check back for advice on my permanent setup/placement!

2–My body chose these speakers at the demo

I went to Just Audio in Baltimore (saw their YouTube videos and realized they’re near me) and their listening spaces were wonderful.

I was convinced it would be between the KLH Model 5’s and KEF LS-50’s based on reviews and descriptions, I just threw in the Lintons for good measure. I figured I like “the details” and wanted more of an analytical experience. When we listened to my sample tracks, these speakers gave me shivers — goosebumps from the back of my neck, down my shoulders and upper arms, and upper back. They’d switch to the KLH’s and the shivers disappeared. These Lintons have a spirit to them and something in my body responded. I still get the feeling at home a week later and I know I made the right choice. Lesson learned: ALWAYS demo!!

Hope you can appreciate these little stories. Thanks everyone for posting and giving me insights over the years!

It’s always nice to see rooms that look practical/livable without the speakers being shoved deep into corners or right up against the walls.

As an owner can I make a recommendation? Turn the stands backwards. Kind of knocks down the bling of too many Ws looking at you.

Thanks for sharing. I have the Lintons littler (but older) brother (Dentons 80th Anniversary) and it makes me want to upgrade as soon as I can.

Congrats man! The setup looks beautiful. I’m curious how big the TV is? (trying to size-up speakers in comparison)

Maybe it’s intentional but you have the speakers swapped L & R, badges should be outside and tweeters inside is their intended setup. Great speakers, enjoy!

Those with toddlers…are the Linton’s easy to tip over? Are they held in place on those stands at all? Been debating these for a while but my little guy is holding me back as I just don’t trust him, LOL
