Hey,
I’ve finally put together my first hifi after moving countries (spending little money)
- Wharfdale Laser 80, used for €30
- Yamaha A-S201 scored for €40 in NOS state
- Turntable Sony PS-PX7 it was broken, payed €40, I fixed it and I’ve put a VM95e €65
- CD player was in the dumpster, broken. Fixed (was a belt, €0.20). It has digital output, at some point could use it as transport.
- Streamer (not at sight) is a Raspberry Pi running moode audio, connected to that U-Phoria UM2 used as DAC
Speakers have low sensibility but volume is enought for this small living room. I’m quite happy with the hearing.
Next steps would probably be (no date…):
- upgrade at some point to Wharfdale Lintons
- upgrade at some point to a proper streamer (e.g. bluesound node)
What do you think?

Sounds like a good start! I have no idea what it might sound like, but I will say the standard: move those speakers onto stands and further apart!
Also, no shade intended, but you might get more tips and positive feedback from the “audiophiles on a budget” sub. They’re great over there.
Can you achieve a better speaker placement?
