I’ve had the J.M. Audio mod of the Hifiman HE-R9 closed backs for a few months now and they are freaking awesome. A worthy alternative to my Edition XS.
How many pairs of Hifiman do you own? I have the HE5XX and I really enjoy them. The only complaint I have is they are a little loose but I only listen to them in my “easy” chair plugged into my Schiit Stack so not a big deal. I replaced the stock cable but that was primarily just because I didn’t like the texture or the length.
All hifiman closed backs atm sound really awful

I have the r10D definitely a little wonky sounding but great technicals and soundstage. If you eq at all they’re pretty great

HE-R10 sounds amazing (heard them in May in Munich)
