So they are at it again. I d/l’d the audio from their YT video. Brought into Audacity on Ubuntu 20 and then exported to PCM and randomly named the files.

Here is the google drive link. Let me know which is a $30 switch and which is a $3199 switch.

i have some sympathy: i stopped using (fairly pricey) powerline network adapters because they wreaked havoc with my hifi.

so i redid my network to cut them out.

…but yeah this sounds like snakeoil.

Powerline adapters have their uses but often have horrible latency spikes that cause lots of dropped packets. Which is a disaster for streaming.

can’t really remember how bad latency was. i meant i could hear my network traffic.

local icmp ping flood rendered it unusable. normal traffic was just annoying.

They also sell a stand for this switch. Only $299. One would think a ethernet switch with magical capabilities wouldn’t need any accessories. Oh, and also you need to use their special ethernet cables to get the full benefits.

AudioDiffMaker will objectively determine what the difference is and present it for you to hear.

We all know any difference will be 60 dB or more below the signal level – i.e., entirely inaudible.

That said, if you didn’t have these files ready to go and people had one of these set ups in their homes, many or maybe even most would report hearing a difference, and most would say it is a positive difference.

Ears are very, very easily fooled. And when you want to hear a difference, you will.

This and cables are starting to push me away from this hobby. It’s really a bummer that companies do stuff like this and some people are willing to buy it
