They only need a couple watts being some of the most efficient speakers ever made. That sx-828 is more than enough. Even my 20 watt sx-580. I was just giving it a try out of my collection of around 25 other receivers. Normally I use tube gear as a daily driver such as the Mcintosh MC225 with C20 or HH Scott 299 integrated.

Tell us a little more about the speakers! And how does that pioneer receiver do driving them?

The mere presence of those would make a Klipsch La Scala blush, though I don’t know sound wise how different they’d be.
