Why not? If you love it. People buy clothes and sneakers for 1k, the AC can cost 10k easy. You ca waste 1k for the restaurants.

The iems for 3-5k usd are honestly not much better then ones for 1k. But 500 to 1000 is a huge gap in sound. And if it is a thing you love, and it makes you happy why not?

It you guys are just in a start of you way, belive me, after a few years you will buy headphones for 1-2 usd and you will love it.

This isn’t a criticism of this specific IEM. Yea I know luxury goods exist but all of these pricey IEMs are using resin shells and the same Sonion and Knowles drivers as cheap IEMs. I know time and energy goes into designing and tuning but that’s true of every decent IEM. The cables and tips aren’t anything special and there are no visible moving parts to give a sense of quality.

I just don’t see how they can charge more than something like a ZMF Aeolus. And none of the expensive IEM companies offer more than a 2yr warranty either. 64 Audio will happily sell you a $3000 IEM with a 1yr warranty lol.

Yes, there is now a limit in the use of ba drivers that was reached 5 years ago. They give lots of detail, but dry, boring, lacking soundstage, lacking frequencys sound. This is a problems what manufacturers are trying to solve in top models. The trick is that drivers account for about 30% of the sound. Another 30% is crossover, and 30% tuning. Some models are even using dampers instead of crossover, because bad crossover can kill all the details in sound.

Most headphones that cost more than 1000 euros offer innovative technologies and a complex crossover. It is clear that there is a lot of marketing here, but open ba, beryllium, bone conduction, est, it all makes a huge difference and costs money.
