I myself have listened to many different dacs and all of them have about the same specs but the expensive ones tend to sound clearer with less distortion. Is there some other way to measure a dac quality other than price?

    Design of the PCB, shielding, quality of the parts, Q&A etc.

    Couple other aspects you might have neglected to consider:

    • Interface; good buttons, good placement, good cable location, etc; basically, how you interact with the thing
    • Durability. Cheap parts might not last as long, or stay within specs as long or in varying conditions (heat, air pressure, etc). Better connectors, better wiring.
