When I was dating (my now wife) it didn’t take long for her to find out I was an audiophile. She’d always tell me how much she loves music, etc. but knew right away the first time I had her listen that she was not into audio. How do I know? She sat immediately off to the side of both speakers. Anyway, it obviously wasn’t a deal breaker. After marriage however I found whenever I wanted to listen to music this became her queue to run water in the kitchen, do laundry, vacuum the house- basically do anything to make noise. We’ve been married 27 years now and have now come to the point where I “headline” that “I’m going to listen to music later”. She now either reads a book or goes to the other room to watch TV. Still has zero interest in listening with me, even when trying to play her favorite music. I have no “audiophile” friends but have noticed if I’ve ever checked out new equipment in a retail setting ALL of the prospective clients are guys as are the salespeople. Have any guys in this Reddit thread (which I suspect is 99% of you) ever run across a female audiophile?

There’s a few on both audiogon and Head-Fi that don’t state that they’re female outright. All of them provide great insight, and even better, all seem to be respected on both sites.

I really liked Jana Dagdagan (EARSPACE), but she seems quiet, yet loosely associated with both Steve Guttenberg and Darko Audio.

In-person, maybe once. She had a killer audio system that she had installed in her vehicle. Otherwise, ditto on the spouse.

Nice! I would LOVE for more women to enter this hobby! Sincerely, I think it would be great and certainly having shared interests with others is always a plus. It’s just, unfortunately, it’s a small, small pool. I mean, you can’t force people into a hobby and you can be as welcoming as you want to all but there needs to be an interest first. Also, to be fair, most of my male friends could care less either. It’s just everyone I’ve met in this hobby personally or had contact with has been male. I’m sure there’s a thread on needlepoint (or whatever) where someone is asking “where are all the guys?) 😂
