Nice! We have the C-6’s & C-9’s bought new in the way back time lol - Running them with the Onkyo 504 Amp, preamp, cd, cassette, and a streamer. They have been through a few moves, storage and they sound great! If you take care of them they will last for a very long time, enjoy them!

I found it quite difficult to find any information on them, but they have an impressive frequency response of 30Hz-25kHz and are made in Canada. I paid 150$ for them and they’ll become part of my very first setup. Are there any previous or current C-6 owners that have some advice on how to get the most out of these? Picture is the previous owner’s setup.

I owned a pair for 15+ years Keep them several feet off the back wall and away from side walls. Give them good power. I had an old Adcom GFA-5400 125 WPC amp. They had pretty good bass. When I upgraded to 300 WPC Emotiva monoblocks, it was like getting all new speakers. I was running an Aragon 18K Mk II preamp.

API made many competent, even great, speakers. They knew all the tricks and had a long run with the Mirage and Energy brands. Mirage specialized in Bipolar radiators and Omni-sats and Energy in front firing and monitors. All veterans of the Floyd Toole/ NRC mill, like PSB and Paradigm.

I have a pair of C-9 and RC-70s and love them as a budget audiophile play. It’s a lot of speaker for the money and availability in Canada was good.

    With Dirac, they become exceptional!

I have the Energy Take series in my 5.1 setup. With the right sub pairing they disappear into the movie, and they’re unobtrusive.

I remember these Connoisseur series speakers sounding kind of soft and bland in treble/midrange, far more than their higher-end series. They can be synergized with amplification that has more of “detailed, neutral” balance IMO.

I have a pair of C5’s in maple finish. They are fantastic. I really enjoy listening to music on them, they have great low end. And the midrange tweet combo works pretty well too
