This isn’t what you asked, but I used to leave my NAS on 24/7 in large part because it was also my music server. It pulled about 50 watts.
This summer I started running my music server on a Raspberry Pi. I put all my music on a 1 TB MicroSD card & I now only turn on my NAS on an as-needed basis.
OP asked for blogs, not podcasts.
Back around 2008/09, music blogs were an incredible resource. People would write reviews of stuff they liked & then would just straight up link to a free download of the album in mp3 or flac. The blog would be hosted on a platform like Blogger, while the music files would be hosted on a platform like RapidShare. There was less of a focus on new music, a lot of the stuff was deep cuts.
I don’t think music blogs exist in the the same way that they used to, but I could see where the musings of people with good taste would be a welcome change from the normal discourse around music.
