1 year agoI’m sure there are exceptions but from a practical standpoint 99% of the time it means a separate source, amplifier and at least two stereo speakers which were built with the intention of sounding better than an Alexa type all in one device. In the UK you’re probably looking at spending around £1500 to get in to what most people would consider hifi territory.
Technically it measures worse, but loads of people prefer the sound of vinyl. Either we’re all idiots or the technical measurements are missing something subtle that our ears can pick up. Even my wife, who is not normally that interested in audio quality was amazed at how much she enjoyed listening to a Madonna album on vinyl.
