Thanks. This was reasonable. People get very angry when you tell them that their 5k dac couldn’t barely give them CD reproduction and makes the whole idea of “high res sampling” ridiculous. The two channel crowd talks about synergy… As if audio is a mystic ritual that you perform.
I always think about some guy doing 15 to life for “breaking in” every time I hear this. I own Q series Kefs. These are not speakers you break in.
I have this issue my room is a little bigger, 20 ft ceilings. The whole ad drape thing and room treatment made me laugh. I have huge picture widows, fireplaces, and columns in my great room. I can imagine my wife listening to me talk about adding drapes … I would be sleeping in the car. I am waiting for ART in DIRAC to mature to see if this works with larger room sizes. Otherwise, it is impossible. I have tried klipsch horns… They blare in a room that size. I think we had JBL. I grew up in the movie theater industry, and they used to have these huge JBL under the curtains for sub (started with esrthquake) for movie buffs. They also had like kbl speakers the same size. My wife, again, wouldn’t budge. Gl on your solution hunting.
Thank you for this post. Audioquest was a good reference. I bought some old Mirage speakers that were m7si (really good sounding) with drivers in the front and back. The speakers came with cables the gentleman paid 1500 dollars for in the 90s. I was floored. There was so much misinformation and ao much deceit in the industry then. The magazines would accept the advertising. The poor guy thought he was giving me the deal of the lifetime.
The video really was sad for me. I don’t think he ever really listened to that system at all. I felt like it was a lifetime of tinkering.
