For me it’s convenience above sound quality to a certain degree. I want to spend the time I would’ve spent sourcing high quality files on actually listening to my music. If it’s just a setting on my streaming app and I’m on wifi then it’s a no brainer. Why wouldn’t you choose the highest quality?
I simply don’t like EQing. I need a consistent sound I can rely on across all devices for music production. And every device has a different EQ that you can’t always match. And I tend to end up finding more and more things to fix and then still preferring the stock sound in the end.
I also have tinnitus and my 660S were a godsend. I don’t LOVE the sound signature but it beats having my ears ring the whole night after a studio session. It made it so much more manageable.
I just try not to drop my 660S, that’s about it. They’re pretty sturdy.
Not my DT770s on the other hands have suffered through so much abuse I’m genuinely surprised they still work. Borrowed them to a friend who is a DJ and they fell into the crowd (no idea how he managed to do that). Tons of people accidentally stomped on them. Just had to bend the metal back to its original form and they looked like nothing had happened.
