It amazes me you even know about the existence of Schiit before knowing about lossless music or hifi music streaming. I really don’t mean that in a derogatory way. Regardless, look into qobuz, it offers by far the best audio quality in streaming. I would recommend going even a bit further and making sure you’re dac drivers are up to date and running qobuz as exclusive and at the highest quality it offers. Running the music app as exclusive is a real game changer. Good luck!

there should be no difference. especially if you use the program as exclusive, as in WASAPI exclusive, or ASIO (exclusive means the program won’t send the info of the song through windows and directly to your DAC, which means no resampling and usually far better audio quality).
I recommend starting with MusicBee, it’s very easy to work with and very friendly.
I do the amp thing the opposite way, the Aune X1s GT sends a square wave when you turn it off. So I first unplug my headphones from it or turn off my active speaker before I turn the Aune off. Im probably gonna keep doing that even after I move on from the Aune
