Sony MDR R10 or Hifiman HE-R9/10
Sony MDR R10 or Hifiman HE-R9/10
My recommendation is Kiwi Ears Quartet they have great isolation, I find them comfortable too but they have a big shell so keep that in mind
While we have pretty good stores but it’s usually overpriced but cannot complain about the range from cheap JBLs up to Meze Empyrean and Hifiman Shangri-la which you can demo. But we have a large second-hand market with headphones and speakers, unfortunately IEMs are pretty rare especially those in 200 USD range. I bought and sold many headphones and it was always a good experience with really kind and enthusiastic people and it was nice to talk to someone who is as invested in this hobby as I am
I grabbed an old AKG K340 for 100USD and while I cannot compere it to TOTL headphones but it still beats headphones in terms of technicalities under 500USD (IMO). Some claim they are as good as HD800 but I never heard them so take that with a grain of salt. Also the tuning is intresting, you like it or not, but I would describe it as natural and the bass is nothing special. I’m still surprised how good they sound even after 40 years.
For me I usually listen to music when I’m walking or traveling, something rhythmic, energetic with my IEMs. When I’m at home and just study or work on something I usually listen to bardcore with headphones. But there are times when I just listen to music or critical listening then I just close my eyes and try to feel the music and I’m not doing anything else.
Hifiman HE-R9 definitely looks interesting or Sony MDR R10 Beyer DT150 I would argue that Grados still considered unique AKG K 1000 Dysone Zone Human headphones
