Hi, one more phono stage post sorry! Can someone please explain the sonic benefits to adding an outboard “linear power supply” box for a phono stage, instead of just using the regular old AC/DC converter that the phono stage comes with? I’m referring to something like this, which would be a standalone unit just for powering the phono stage instead of using the internal, ‘one box’ stock option

    Depends on the specific gear. Some want better regulation, others just outboard the transformer and rectifier and have additional filters/regulation internally and don’t need help.
