Hi all.

Noob enjoyer of hifi audio- so I’m aware that using the XM4’s with an iPhone means you can’t take advantage of highres audio properly since Apple hates their customers and is not compatible with LDAC, but I was wondering if there was any adapters that I could use to get the full experience playing out of my phone? When I listen to ‘master’/192kHz tracks on tidal just using bluetooth on my iPhone 12 Pro, I can hear a plausible difference but otherwise tracks can sound very similar to just normal spotify playback.

Furthermore, I use both Mac’s and PC’s daily- is there any affordable audio unit that could let me make use of the LDAC codec listening to flac’s or streaming 192 kHZ from tidal?

If I’ve mucked anything up here please correct me.

I appreciate it!

    Just doing some math

LDAC at its best does 990 kbs

    CD quality is 2x16x44.1 = 1411 kbs

Hires like 192 is 2x24x192=9216 kbs

BTW, LDAC is capped at 96 kHz so higher sample rates like 176 and 192 must be down sampled to 96 first

You might wonder if it make sense to use lossy compression inherent to Bluetooth in combination with hires recordings.

You might try a USB-DAC and a wired headphone if you want to experience hires unadulterated.
