Before I bought them I’ve read here someone saying Focal Bathys are very picky about perfect fit. And so I thought I have problem with fit, this is what happens:

  1. I put them on and play music and in one ear sound is dull, less high frequencies and bit lower in volume.
  2. I adjust that side by wiggling that side, a tiny bit repositioning, like by couple milimeters.
  3. And then… the sound is slowly improving over 2-3 seconds. It feels like a tiny operator gnome sitting in there and turns directional speaker into center of my ear canal over those 2- 3 sec, after which sound is as it should be.

Could this be an explanation: I am bald and there’s some suction occurs. French people all have wonderful hair, so maybe they just didn’t test it on a bald person?

Suction occurs and sucks the speaker in which distorts the sound, and then I move it and it lets the air out and recovers?

I would assume they are tested with HATS at some point in development/QC. I would also assume, even french HATS do not have a wig of wonderful hair.

So no, not suction. Closed back headphones usually have some vent holes (ports), they are not totally sealed.
