Hi! I asked this question in r/budgetaudiophile. Now let’s see what you guys think.

Obviously, we all have our own sound preferences. BUT! Let’s have a talk. What do you think are the most underrated and underappreciated speakers you liked that seem to not get much love?

On the other hand, what speakers you don’t get the appeal of, but they are very appreciated by the community? Could be a specific model or a brand in general.

I listened to KEF Blades at a Magnolia and I could not believe how disappointed I was. How could the flagship speakers (complete with odd duck styling) from such a renowned company sound so absolutely lifeless?! I wouldn’t buy them for any amount of money, let alone their actual MSRP.

I’ve actually owned and quickly sold R900’s as well, so maybe that brand is just not for me.

Underrated - I think they are universally liked but I’ll throw out Monitor Audio Silvers as one of the best values in HIFI, and Totem Hawks.

Were they the original blades or the blade 2’s?

Because they had both at my local Magnolia last time I went, and the 2’s sounded like shit compared to the original blades. All of the employees shared the same sentiment too

That’s interesting. Never heard them, but magnolia often has the most disappointing of setups and acoustics. I’m shocked that they’re often the only place to buy high end speakers in some parts of the country.

      Was everything set up properly?
