Hello all. I was wondering what are all the Dolby Atmos speakers out there, that is a single speaker and it’s NOT a sound bar?

Is the Sonos Era 300 and Amazon Echo Studio the only two at this time? I can’t find any other. TY

Dolby Atmos is protocol that defines speaker placement and sound channels.

It has nothing to do with an individual speaker.

“Dolby Atmos” soundbars work by bouncing sound, primarily off the ceiling. It’s a poor representation compared to using individual speakers with proper placement, and Dolby Atmos soundbars are highly dependent on having optimal room acoustic in order to sound good.

You need both equipment and source material that takes advantage of Dolby Atmos.

Dolby Atmos is usually found on 4K uhd blu-ray and streaming, assuming the movie supports Dolby Atmos. But there are enough movies on standard Bluray, that you can’t make a blanket statement that Dolby Atmos isn’t seen on blu-ray. But its a small fraction of movies compared to 4k bluray and streaming.

In the context of speakers: the speaker is just a speaker and only knows what’s sent to it from the AV receiver.

I’m sure there are others, Pioneer used to sell a speaker with a ATMOS speaker in the top that fired towards the ceiling. Typically you would have the ATMOS speakers mounted in the ceiling to the sides and in front of the screen.
