*Picture for attention. This is not how they’re set up*
I started with the Klipsch R-15PM + 10SW, and I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. Then, years later I found my beloved Yamaha NS-1000 Monitors. These were different, raw, natural, and I finally understood “image” and “soundstage”. Yes, it took years, but I discovered it, I think. I know that the NS 1000 Ms are unique in that their purpose was specific for creating music (I’ve read), but I like them and the raw feel, A LOT. So, at this point, I feel like they’re so good I’m not sure how something can be better. I can kinda imagine, but some of it must be in our own head, right?
I know “good” and “better” is subjective, but they’re almost 50 years old now, and if other speakers are selling for $80k then, for sure they’re that much better? I know there’s a difference between ported, sealed, and rear opened speakers too.
I love my speakers and I listen to them almost daily. I just don’t know what direction I would take if I had the opportunity.
Thanks for your input!
- Genny
- About 10 years ago I listened to the live version of Hotel California through a pair of MBL 101e with a Mac system in a showroom in a mall in Seoul. Ruined forever. - They look insane. I need to listen to them

- Thiel CS 7 with Levinson gear. Started is for me,
- L-100’s. JBL knew what was up. after those is L-65 Jubal’s and HPM-100’s
- I wish I knew the exact serial number. My parents have a speaker set with turntable via Sony via early 80s and the sound still beat the crap I buy at Best Buy. Warm, full, welcoming to jazz, early rock, and to classic hip hop. It’s just getting harder to find aux set ups
- Dutch& Dutch 8c’s. Just read the review Erin’s corner did on them.
- Sound Lab Majestic 945
- KEF the Reference (non-meta), which I ended up purchasing. After a year of listening to stuff in a similar price category. - Revel F208. - Quad ESL-63 run by Naim Monoblocks, although this may be a nostalgic memory rather and I may now prefer the Revel or the KEF
- Klipsch Cornwalls, Acoustic Research AR-3a, Altec Lansing Voice of the Theatre - Friend of mine owns those, for me personally since I’m not loaded, my AR 2ax and Watkins WSC-1’s are pretty nice for the price.
- L Acoustics in a small intimate room with Telefon Tel Aviv playing live
- Mirage M1
- Love my Triangle Borea 8’s❤️
- The Wilson Alex V. Absolutely incredible.
- I recently heard JBL M2’s. Closest thing to vinyl that digital has ever sounded in my life. Absolutely incredible.
- Two Cornwalls IVs and two Forte IVs in the rear. Most immersive listening experience
