trust me when I say this. downgrade the operating system to the original iOS 4.3 version and you’ll hear the difference in sound quality. paired with low ohm, high efficiency headphones like koss or grados, It’s unreal how good it sounds.

the audio drivers and background processors affect the sound. something you just gotta try yourself to find out.
There’s a real difference, also try to make sure that you get a unit produced before the late 2010 board revision - coupled with the OS roll back it just poses a greater contrast for how far Apple devices’ analogue audio output quality has declined.
It does for some reason (I downgraded my 4 from 7.1.2 to 4.3) and noticed a better and louder sound from the DAC
