appropriate post but it does happen sometimes. nobody believes me when i tell this story. i own a pair of ess amt1 towers that i bought new, 1975ish. still use them. about 10 years ago i drove down my street on the way to work, it was garbage day. i see a pair of speakers on the side of the road with the unmistakable pyramid shape of ess. screeched to a halt, loaded them into my car. turned out to be ess amt1b’s. had to recone and refoam the woofers and passives but the heil drivers were fine. i thank my lucky stars to this day. it has never happened before or since. i love telling people i found these in the garbage.

you forgot to suggest replacing all of the capacitors for a unit that works fine but just has a missing knob.
