    2 things, increase resistant and reduce capacitor. the first one could reduce the power that go thru them. the latter could change the frequency that go thru them.

    start with a pair of speakers that you believe sound really good, then throw a blanket over them & listen, this will give you an idea of a 'tired capacitor sound.
