So I bought an Onkyo for $1000. Spent extra to get Dirac live for room correction. Dirac set up fails a lot when testing sound, when it doesn’t fail there always seems to be a problem with at least one speaker. Since then I’ve found the equalizer in the menu options. So do I really need Dirac or will the eq settings work just as well? Is Dirac just setting eq settings or is there more benefit to using Dirac Live?
Have used Dirac with UMik and a different device. When inspecting what Dirac did for my system I see if injected a slight delay for the right speaker so it would “sound” equidistant for my listening position. Left speaker is further away than right. In addition a similar delay for subwoofer since it is closer than the furthest speaker.
