I’ve been picking up discarded components off the streets of NY since I was a teenager working in a stereo store in the city. I finally managed to purge most the 80’s stuff I deemed not worth anything but now am left with approximately 20 pieces in various states of (dis)repair.
Ideally I would like to find someone who would barter for some of the pieces in exchange for repairing the few I’d like to retain. Are there any repair shops left in the NYC/NJ area that work on mid-range components from this era? Not looking for a complete restoration - just back to solid working order.
Shipping isn’t really an option due to cost/value so selling on eBay isn’t realistic. I could part them out but that seems like a shame to dismantle an intact unit.

Would probably help if you provided some pics and info on the pieces you’re keeping. There are lots of knowledgeable people on here but your not giving them much to go on.
