Because I think, “I can sell these upgrade for only a little bit more” so I buy the next pair but never get around to selling the first, and end up procrastinating so long they lose enough of their value that it isn’t worth it anymore. Rinse and repeat.

I decided to just buy the Focal Bathys and sell most of the others. I am keeping a couple of special ones for my kids, but it’s getting a little bit old staring at the collection trying to decide which one I want to listen to like I’m picking out a shirt to wear for the day. The Bathys is on sale for Black Friday so I took a chance on it and I think it’s really great! No more fussing around with cords unless I want to go DAC mode, and it sounds incredible in either mode. It’s very comfortable and portable with nice punchy clean bass, and very clear mids and treble.

Because I don’t EQ. I have about 10-15 budget headphones now, which are just fun to play around with SOMETIMES, and do tests with. But I’m at the point in my journey where I’d like to just dump them all, and clear up space, except for an Aperio or something :) I have about 2x more IEMs, which are all unique sounding, and fun to test, also. But so small, they don’t take up space.

I buy to try, and I have moods. I probably own 10 decent headphones, but only really have 3 I use. I have tons of IEMs and tbh, never use them.

It’s all about flavors of headphones for me. Once in a while, I want to switch the sound and EQ isn’t always available. Some headphones are excess in my lineup, but they’re there for memories or for other uses. Like one time, I sent a friend a package, and I used gen 1 Beats studios as padding for the box. That’s the most I’ve used them this year for.

Because I’m trying to fill the void that was left by my father rejecting me for not being good at sports.

A good question! For the first time, I’m actually starting to regret some purchases in this field, realising that existing devices could have done the job perfectly well and that the new ones weren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

    For the record:

Closed back over ears: 2 Wireless over ears: 1 TWS: 3 working, 2 old with dwindling batteries IEMs: 3 USB DAC: 3 BT DAC: 2

Doesn’t even look that bad written down, but I can see boxes of items all over my office that tell me it’s too much!
