New visitor here, so apologies if I’m in the wrong place for this type of query.
Back in the late 70s, my dad had a cabinet much like the one shown in this post but his did not have the turntable lid, so he sat his Technics on top of the unit. His cabinet had enough space for a MASSIVE Onkyo amp, Onkyo tuner, and a Denon cassette player/recorder plus space for albums at the bottom. I may be misremembering the height as I was a kid but he’s not very tall. I’m thinking it was 48" - 60" tall/high. I liked the mobility of this type of cabinet.
Our system will be in a finished basement (laminate over poured concrete flooring), so I’m hoping that casters will not transfer much if any vibration given the flooring underneath. For now, we have just have an AV Receiver, a CD transport, and a turntable. May expand/replace units in the future.
Can you fine folks suggest some quality cabinet brands I should look at? This is a dedicated audio component cabinet, so slim & tall is the goal. Also, I’ve looked at brands like Salamander, and that’s outside our budget, unless I win the lottery. I’m hoping to find something in the spirit of the above under $500 USD.
Along these lines, I’m currently drowning in the record collections of both my parents from the 50s-late 80s/early 90s (north of 500 albums). Any suggestions on media storage of those as well? I’m picturing a kind of bookshelf-like approach but maybe something more cubical, if that makes any sense.
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
