I’m a music producer and am thinking about getting the SoundID Reference tool for my Beyerdynamics DT 1990 Pro but I am really struggling to decide if it’s the right thing to do.

I got the trial version and set it to 69% and it definitely sounds “better”. The bass is more pronounced and it makes the overall listening experience way more fun compared to not using it.

Now I fear that my decisions in music making will be negatively affected when using it. On the other hand does it really matter that much because everyone is listening from a different system anyway? I fear I will fall down that rabbithole and never stop thinking about how sound is perceived on another end and constantly compare my mixes with and without it.

Do any of you guys use SoundID Reference or have used it in the past? If so would you say it’s worth it?

^(The purple line in the picture shows my headphones frequency response and the green one the inverted calibration to make it more flat. Together the add up to the not so visible white line.)

It will always sound different on other systems, but using it will make it sound less different as its removing at least some variables in the chain.
