Recently saw the Marantz Model 50 at bestbuy and was impressed by the sound and features except for the terrible volume control. Turning the volume knob feels like they got axle grease in there. And the knob has no texture to it, so you need a firm grip on it to adjust volume. Too bad because the rest of the unit is some nice kit.
Huge improvement over the lower end series of Marantz amps that make it near impossible to make any fine adjustments for volume with the remote…huge jumps up or down with any press of the button. I now have the Model 30 and love the more precise feel and control. Physical knob doesn’t feel that mushy or anything but I don’t tend to change the volume manually that much, usually just via the remote.
