I have an ASUS Zenfone 8 and I love that even the latest version still has a 3.5mm out, but I just started poking around in the settings for my Samsung Galaxy tablet and realized that Samsung Galaxy devices get Dolby Atmos. (Movies have never been better!) It got me thinking, what phones do other auditorily-inclined people use? Does AptX/LDAC support matter to you? Does audio go into your purchasing decisions at all?

iPhone, mostly because of non audio things but iOS being bit perfect on any music application is a massive bonus.

Surface duo 2 and use a bluetooth dongle or USB amp. The phone is not great by itself to power any headphones or IEMs but has great processing power.

Usb-c and being able to run my Qudelix 5K wired was one of the things that motivated me to upgrade to an iPhone 15.

Though really the iPhone’s AAC is perfectly fine too.

LG V40 thin q, for the built in DAC and I like the double touch lock feature. Also the always on screen with quick menu is nice. Not sure how they managed to keep those features to themselves.

Also not sure what I’m going to do when this phone dies as they are out of the phone came it seems. Sony xperia seems to be the alternative as I believe they have a DAC as well.

Every phone with a headphone jack has a DAC. Dac is necessary to convert an analog signal to digital…

Still daily drive my LG V60 for almost 3 years now, using it because it can drive pretty much all of my headphones and iems with ease even my 250ohm beyer sounds full and dynamic with the V60 headphone jack. The sound is also very clean on the V60 no distortion what so ever to be heard even with the sensitive iem. Previously I’m using LG G7 which sounds amazing too before the screen suddenly not working and decided to upgrade it to the V60.

iPhone SE, because I prefer iOS and it isn’t as expensive as the rest of their phones. That’s really it.
